London is a large, vibrant city and with this summer projected to be the hottest on record, there’s never been a better time to visit the UK’s capital city. This post will list seven of the top London attractions you can see this summer.

1. More London Free Festival

The More London Free Festival is a huge attraction that runs for three months from June until September and features free film, music, theatre, parties and more. It takes place at two main locations – The Scoop (a 1,000 person sunken amphitheatre located on Queen’s Walk) and More London Riverside (an open public space located on Queen’s Walk).

2. The Royal Botanical Gardens

The Royal Botanical Gardens are home to the largest collection of living plants on the planet and a top way to spend summer in London. In total, the gardens feature more than 5 million bulbs including bluebells, crocuses, daffodils and tulips along with a selection of historic buildings and botanical art galleries.

Over the summer months, the Royal Botanical Gardens also host two major attractions – Plantasia (an outdoor summer festival that runs from 24th May till 7th September and features barefoot walking trails, outdoor Tai Chi sessions, horticultural displays and much more) and Kew The Music (a five day outdoor music festival that takes place between the 16th and 20th of July).

3. Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is one of the most famous open spaces in London and is home to an array of fountains, historic statues and the Fourth Plinth – a centerpiece for contemporary public art. It’s a beautiful place to explore and there are a wide range of events on at Trafalgar Square over the summer months including the BMW LSO Open Air Classics (an open air concert from the London Symphony Orchestra that takes place on 11th May) and West End Live (a two day outdoor extravaganza that features London’s top West End performers and takes place between 21st and 22nd June).

4. Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a huge Royal park that acts as a summer hot spot with plenty of things to do. It features the Serpentine Gallery (a hugely popular contemporary art gallery), Serpentine Lido (a large outdoor swimming pool) and the Serpentine (a large recreational lake with pedalos and rowing boats available for hire). During summer, Hyde Park is also home to British Summer Time Hyde Park – an exciting 10 day outdoor comedy, music and film festival that runs from 4th July till 13th July.

5. London Duck Tours

The London Duck Tours are one of the most unique London attractions and allow you to explore the city by land and river. The road part of the tour takes place on a bright yellow DUKW and features the Houses Of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Number 10 Downing Street (the Prime Minister’s home) and Buckingham Palace. The river part of the tour takes place on a City Cruise boat and takes you across the Thames and past the London Eye, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tate Modern. When combined with the summer sunshine and pleasant weather, London Duck Tours are the perfect way to spend a day and enjoy the capital city in all its glory.

6. Southbank Center

The Southbank Center is one of the most vibrant art centers in the country and located on the South Bank of the Thames. If you love culture and the arts, it’s the perfect place to spend some of your summer in London. During summer, the Southbank Center hosts hundreds of events with highlights including the London Wonderground (a spectacular attraction that takes place from 9th May until 28th September and includes a mixture of cabaret, circus and kid’s shows) and the Festival Of Love (a huge three month festival that runs from 30th May till 28th September and features hundreds of artists who will explore the subject of human love in various ways).

7. Feast Festival

The Feast Festival is an excellent London summer attraction for food and drink lovers that takes place at Battersea Park between 15th and 17th August. This huge celebration of food and drink features pop up restaurants, street food vendors, farmer’s markets and BBQ tents offering hot and cold cuisine from around the world. It also includes cookery master classes, outdoor games and an entertainment stage.
